Closure of the gents pack Club
After more than two years of operation, men’s subscription box service and online retail startup The Gents Pack has announced that it will cease trading in September 2016. Founder, James Fletcher, says...
I can’t believe that it was way back in May 2014 that an idea of a subscription service for gentleman’s essentials would be brought to life. With so many members across the globe waiting excitedly to see what was coming in their next Gents Pack from the get go, it was a rewarding process for both the team and I from very early on.
It is with sadness that we have made the very difficult decision to close The Gents Pack Club – to continue to develop a luxurious experience at a good cost price has been a tough challenge and a huge learning curve for both the team and I. Sleepless nights, stressful shipping days, and even the odd late package are all factors that have contributed to our decision.
With the uncertainty around the British economy impacting daily currency conversions, importing great products from the other side of the world isn’t predictable, profitable or feasible. Therefore our last Gents Pack subscription box will be shipped on 15th August 2016 and online store orders on 31st August 2016.
The closure has been put down to an “uncertain British economy”, making importing both unpredictable and unprofitable. With the cost per acquisition ever increasing and customers continuing to demand lower prices for luxury goods, the retail industry is one of the toughest markets to launch in. Companies that manage to dominate the market while keeping their profits up are a rare find and the closure of The Gents Pack, a leading men's subscription box service, has proven just that.
The Gents Pack was recently named as one of the “8 best subscription boxes for men” by The Independent and has graced the pages of Gay Times Magazine multiple times since 2014. It has also been praised by a stylish crowd of quality driven international men’s style bloggers who have loved and supported the idea.
With thousands of members having experienced The Gents Pack since it’s launch in 2014, the closure is sure to come as a shock, with customers scrambling to find the next best thing in men’s retail.
